In 1980, Tyne Tees Television in the UK very briefly ran a Saturday morning show. It was something like 'Tiswas' meets 'Why Don't You?' and not very good as I remember.
Though on one edition, Neville and Lynval were guests. There was this 'mini Specials tribute band' on there - a bunch of kids who were dressed up in all the rude boy gear and did a mimed performance of Too Much Too Young...what I remember was the 'lead singer' getting part of the lyrics wrong and singing 'Oh no, no gimme yer wife and kids'...maybe that'd make a good alternative version!
I can't recall all of Nev and Lynval's response except they asked "Which one's Horace?"
I DID actually see this and I'm sure I'm not dreaming! Can anyone else back this up?

They were definitely on Tiswas and I think it was 1980. There's something on a Tiswas site by Rhoda Dakar in which she recalls being in the cage on Tiswas with members of The Specials, Selecter, Bodysnatchers and Secret Affair. I've seen a very brief clip on Youtube of Sally James (Tiswas co-host) talking with Terry, Lynval and Neville so this is probably the time they appeared? But I'm not sure if it was just these (Fun Boy) 3 or all 7. Can't find the entire clip of The Specials from this appearance - anyone got this? I do recall wanting to get out of playing for the school football team one Saturday morning because The Specials were gonna' be on Saturday morning TV. I always recalled it being on Swap Shop - but perhaps it was Tiswas?! I'm sure someone has got all theses appearances on video somewhere!

Chris Tarrant did an interview about Tiswas and a couple of the Specials being in that cage they had on the show.
"Somebody" was smoking "something" that they shouldnt have been, so Tarrant threw a bucket of water over them on live TV

Good read.
Tiswas was my programme of choice because they were so 2 tone friendly. Bad Manners played live on there, The Beat were guests (also played live) and UB40's videos were always played (the show went out live from ATV in Brum)...Swap Shop didn't have a chance. Even now, the name sounds a bit geeky.
Saturday mornings were great...and if one or two of the bands were on, I'd meet my friends in town that afternoon and we'd talk about it.

They were on the BBC Midlands 'Look Hear' show n'all. It was hosted by Toyah Wilcox who was always sticking her tongue out at viewers who had written in to complain about her whacky presenting style.
Dexys from said show ->
