I remember it well. I bought The Specials' debut album on that day, the last day at school before Christmas holidays. The date has always stuck in my mind. Very Happy

I recall going into HMV for weeks just to check out the sleeve, until I'd saved up enough.

When I actually bought it, the only time I was allowed access to the stereo was on a Sunday, usually. Whenever Nite Klub came on, my Mum would be in the room doing various bits around the house....even though my folks really liked the music, I'd always talk a little bit LOUDER when that line "the beer tastes just like piss" was sung. Embarassed Laughing Nothing compared to Eminem today!

I got a the album on tape cassete first -well cool - black on white on one side and white on black on the other...it became the soundtrack to many an hours homework...still have a vivid memory of daydreaming and looking out of the window down a deserted foggy street with Brads drumming in Blank Expression clanging away in the background.

Fuck me - every time I think of it its like I mentally climb on board some kind of Two Tone Time Chariot bound for 79/80...and all of a sudden I,m 14 sitting in a Lonsdale T Shirt sucking the end of my biro waiting for me Mum to shout up that dinners ready.

Happy days indeed....makes me rush just remembering it. Crying or Very sad Very Happy

13 years old, saved up, bought it and played it to death, replacing my original moody cassette version which was my mates LP played in to a microphone

Definitely something good about owning an LP back in the day, getting music was a real event. Don't remember buying many specifically but this is one of them, along with The Clash, All Mod Cons and New Boots and Panties.

Don't suppose I would of remembered the particular days I had logged on to itunes

Kids today blah blah blah

i,ve still got my original copy on cassette. the look, the smell and everything about holding it and reading the cover is like having a little time warp remote control in my hand and it never fails to take me right back to '79!
heaven!
