These versions of Too Much Too Young and Stereotypes are both great. Thanks Dirty H.
On the More Specials album when Terry sings Stereotypes its: "He's just a stereotype". On the John Peel sessions album it's: "I'm just a stereotype." And now in your Japanese version it's "You are a stereotype".
I wonder if one day Terry will ever sing: "We're just all stereotypes, we drink our age in pints"?
I hope so

It wouldn't be true. I can't drink my age in pints these days, and I'm sure Terry is older than me.

No worries. I'm glad I can share them.

The Special Beat vocalist was obviously hired as a Terry Hall soundalike. In one of the recordings from that album you can hear someone shout "Shut up. You're not Terry Hall", which made me laugh.

Terry does seem to change the lyrics for Stereotypes. Hopefully he will adjust it to the 'We're just all stereotypes, we drink our age in pints' for the final concerts this year. I really love the introduction of that song, "This next one's is for you all Tokyo hipsters, who walk about with walkabouts on your ears". Classic Terry.

I never saw Special Beat - but I wish I had because the live stuff that's available of theirs sounds like an absolute scream! I remember the first time I ever heard them was on 99p CD my dad bought me from Woolworths! He knew nothing about music whatsoever, but it had the word "ska" on the cover and it was dirt cheap - so he Picked it up for me. It's cover wasn't encouraging (a sort of second rate Walt picture, doing some peculiar sort of skank) and all in all it just looked like one of those nasty 3 for £5 CDs you get in bookshops. But on playing it it was an absolute treasure......

PWEI (who were unquestionably amongst the BEST live bands ever) went thru a period of playing the Special Beat version of Enjoy Yourself immediately before they came on stage. I always thought it was masterstroke, but at same time it was really quite brave - because the venue would be positively bouncing by the time it finished, and you needed to be fucking good to pick up and start a gig where that left off. Very Happy Very Happy

When former bandmates toured as "The Specials" without him Terry was pretty reasonable about it. I think it amused him. In one TV interview he said they shouldn't be doing it but quickly added it would be wrong for him to get arsey about it as he knew they were doing it to pay mortgages etc

Maybe Terry and Amy Whinehouse could record a duet of Stereotypes. Then Terry could point at her and sing: "She drinks her age in pints"

I Love the version of Nite Klub from that Tokyo Gig when Terry Sings, Disco, Disco, Disco Smile and I also like Terry's intro to Stereotype Smile

If he continues with, "She doesn't really exist," will it stop her existing? Wishful thinking.
