I went Friday & Saturday and it was awsome - I just wish I could have made all four but Sean & and the crew have done a blinding job in pulling it all together.

I for one hope this becomes a yearly thing - it's just too good for words

and it was great to catch up with Nanks, Skacid, Liam & Capt Skalett

The Ska Fest has been bloody great so far. Much better than I expected, if I'm honest.

I know bugger all about the mid to late 80s ska scene so really didn't know much about The Hotknives and The Loafers, both bands were fantastic.

Ken Boothe was great on the opening night and Dave and Ansell were brilliant. Dave's Beat were bloody great yesterday as were The Trojans. Unfortunately, I only caught the last 10 mins of The Amphetameanies as they were put on 45 mins earlier than stated on the schedule but at least I've finally seen them. Great band.

Looking forward to Owen Gray (or is it Grey? seems to vary on his records), Lee Thompson's Ska Orchestra and Marcia Griffiths this evening.

Thnaks to Sean and everyone else involved in organising the festival Cool

I make you 100% right there Liam - I would have liked to go to all four days but the two that I went to were, as you say, much better than expected.

Like you I thought the Loafers set was brilliant, really enjoyed the Trojans, The Beat were way above expectations and the Dave & Ansel Collins set was really rather Special to me.

I was in school when I first heard Double Barrell and was so inspired by it I went out and brought it with my pocket money, that for me, was one of the tunes where I can trace my love affair with Skinhead Reggae & reggae in general back too.

A couple of others. Not enough.

The weekend wasn't a sell out, which was pretty bloody shameful considering the number and the quality of acts.

Maybe Mark, but that's the way it appears to be going - there is so much going on now it's forcing us all to make hard choices about where we go.

I realise that might frustrate the non - Londoners because we have been spoilt rotten since the begining of the year where every weekend has had a clash of major gigs - sometimes 4/5 all on the same night and all ones we would have gone to if it was the only one available.

That's no real excuse for for the LISF not to have sold out because of the uniqueness of the bands and headline acts but it might just be there ain't spare cash floating around to fund attendance at all the London gigs right now

it was a great festival for sure. i am honoured to have been there and met so many great musicians. we know money's tight, and appreciate that people have to budget for their leisure time, so thanks to all those who did find the cash to come and enjoy. hopefully we can grow this for next year. start saving now! lol

you also have to take into consideration that some people in the ska scene have been let down by shoddy promoting in the past and there might have been an element of disbelief that the event would even go ahead. well this is a properly run event, run by people who know what they are doing.

long may it continue. and thanks for your support.

see you in the pit next year...... i'm already thinking of the bands i would like to see!

To be honest, it's always the same. I've been to numerous ska festivals in London since 1990 and the the turn out has never been what it should have been. In particular I remember the 10 Commandments of Ska festival having a strong line up too but the Brixton Academy was only half full. Anyway, well done to Sean for putting on such a top event, I'd a great time and nice to meet some from this forum there

Many thanks to everyone who did come. It was great to see you.

I totally appreciate things are tight for people, but hope more of you will make it to The London Intl Ska Festival 2012. Oh yes, 2012 line up is already underway. Presales will go on sale very soon (at a discounted rate again).

In the meantime for those of you who didn't make it and would like to see what went on Michelle Golding is making a documentary film of the whole event. We will also be releasing the festival on CD and ltd.edition vinyl, and a beautiful collectors book.

Please check out all the merch if you get the chance. Any purchase helps towards next years fest and keeps the whole thing going. Thanks again for your support!!

All the merch is listed here http://www.thespecials2.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=18776
