Musical activist, artist and Specials keyboard player Jerry Dammers takes you back and forwards through musical time as he sits in for Jarvis Cocker on this weeks Sunday Service. From Reggae, to library music, to old school classical, Jerry shares his prize records, many of which are so rare that not even the BBC Archives has them in it's hallowed vaults.

I didn't realise "Blackbird" existed well before The Beatles or did I misunderstand what JD said _________________ Can you hear them talking about us

Very Interesting Listen Indeed Jerry should do more Radio Programmes. I haven't heard a DJ play a set like that before very unique choices. their is no tracklist available yet so I can't tell you what my favorite tracks were but I did like The King Singers version of Strawberry Fields I also liked some the Exotica he played. some of the Reggae Library music was a bit heavy but still nice to hear. their was also a Great Version of Ghost Planet featuring Rico recorded live at Madstock a rough recording as described by Jerry. I was surprised to hear Junior Delgado - Armed Robbery (Produced by Dammers) great tune.
Their are other worlds we don't know of, I found one of them on 6 Music today _________________ I'm having bags of fun |

wow, what a musical education!@#$%!!!
jerry is laying it down proper, true to his influences, yet clearly always reaching for new sounds (and audio dimensions). puts the narrow-focused to shame... to quote BDP: "YOU MUST LEARN!!!"
there's a whole world of sounds to explore, all related if you can see past the fashions...
wow!!! so on point... |
