Who shed a tear at the end?

I found the last series, harrowing and really hard to watch, but "88" was a lovely mixture of laughs, cheeky moments, agrro and heart moving pieces.

Shame about the bloody adverts though! ( Love the band mind )

'Smell' - wank ? Anyone fancy helping her out ?

Looking forward to "90", but what will it bring?

Anyway, enough of our Chemode and his hot beef injection!

I thought This is England 88 was a very good piece of character lead drama.

The slow decline of alienated characters was pitched just right, from Woody's gurning idiot trapped in his suburban hell to Lo's pale, guilty and lonely single mum imprisoned by her current situation and a tortured past.

Pushing the other characters aside was the right thing to do.

The tone was not quite as bleak as the last series, and there was even a hint of some hope by the end.

E's and rave are just around the corner.

ACIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIID!

I thought 'This Is England '88' was brilliant and yes I did shed a tear at the last episode. Lots of really interesting insights into the characters and a lot that really struck a nerve when I was watching it.

Best drama I've seen on telly since 'This Is England '86'. Looking forward to '90'.

Really enjoyed it. Bit disappointed with the swastika tatood on Woody's arm (bath scene). I thought he wasn't into all that. I know punks flirted with those kinds of symbols for 'shock', rather than for a political alleagance, but did skinheads/ex-skinheads do the same?
Or was that just a bit of a twist in the story to get us thinking?
I liked the original idea that the whole 'This Is England' theme was basically - 'not all skinheads are racists - their just ordinary people' etc etc.
A bit confused.....

So were many Skinheads on the scene during the late 70s/early 80s.

I've met guys who were 'connected' to the white power movements through stupidity and ignorance who went on to understand that they're politics were misguided and incorrect and that their anger was misdirected.

2-tone played a massive part in changing the minds of many.

I'm not much into group thought, it's a bit confining

I agree. I'm not much of a joiner inner.

As I get older it I actually feel lonier for it.

Once upon a time the 'angry outsider' flag made lots of sense and was easy to wave. A young man has much strength for such gesturing.

These days I wonder what I' on the outside of, it is worth being angry about, and do I simply suffer more for not feeling/wanting/needing part of a bigger collective.

but they arguably made their best music together. i am an enthusiastic joiner inner. then i enthusiastically leave, no man is an island but that doesn't mean we have to stay joined at the hip for life.

I think the barriers to skepticism that groups put up gets tiring
