Some of what Suggs said about going up town and beig lucky to get out alive if you didn't fit in. In Wrexham it was when the fair came to town and if you were not a Queens Park Skin or Rude boy and you set foot in the fairground you really would be lucky to escape alive , well badly beaten anyway. We all used to line up around the Waltzers, there would usually be between 40 and 60 of us and running battles were common, all the lights would go off and all you could see was silhouettes and hear lots clunking and clanging. Alot of the lads from the"bad boys" homes would get brought to the fair on occasion and ther minibus would get totally trashed, that was awkward for me as i had some mates from the homes, a few of them were Cov skinheads, one was called Sidlo(now dead i believe) and another one called Eggy who i think his real name was Clifford Graham. Mad mad times but with a wonderful soundtrack. _________________ A destructive life is a life not being lived |

i agree Hugh. The army recruit young kids for that very reason, pack mentality. The thing that used to piss me off about alot of the skins back then was there lack of musical knowledge and no knowledge of cultural history. Being a Skinhead was too much hassle and you would get classed as racist by those who had no idea what they were talking about, I let my hair grow quickly but still wore fred perry's , flight jackets and adidas trainers and brogues also i kept my crombie. Music was my passion not having a crop and knowing nothing more than sham 69 and bad manners _________________ A destructive life is a life not being lived |

The skinheads in Vancouver dressed the part but weren't in packs and were pleasant to be around _________________ There's still nothing wrong with it! |

I Totally agree I was always a Rude Boy, The Specials and The Selecter were far better dressers than Madness at the time, alot of people were taken in by by the way Madness and their fans looked in the film Take it or leave it.
I've only ever owned one pair of Dr Martin Boots, I got them for Christmas in 1981 I've worn loafers ever since. I did wear flight jackets but I always had a Flat top because it looked better than a Skinhead. I thought Madness looked great during Madness 7, I had the Light grey trousers, Loafers, Shirt and tie I was only missing the Bowler hat _________________ I'm having bags of fun |

Saw a skinhead pair walking along East Hastings back then. Bloke would have attracted Mary's attention in his gear and shaved hair, bird had the gear but Bo Derrick hair; she was really beautiful _________________ There's still nothing wrong with it! |

I much prefered the look of The Specials on More Specials than the first album...a lot more laid back. _________________ I've got a head full of ideas, and they're driving me insane |
