When I first saw this I was momentarily excited, I have been to a few good gigs at Leeds, then the moment passed and I realised it was more the thought of seeing the support than The Specials .
I don't think I will be stumping up £49 - then the travel and accommodation, unless a few more bands I wouldn't mind seeing are added.
Upstairs at The Weatherspoons at the back of Millennium square gives a good view of the stage, sound is a bit muted because of the windows, but if anyone wants to avoid the entry fee and the overpriced drinks.... _________________ Bernie Rhodes Knows - Dont Argue |

Will never forget the Leeds gig back in May 2009 but £50 to see the latest version does not do it for me. My memory might be fading but I don't recall it being anywhere near that price when the reunion first occurred ? _________________ I don't like life when things get dull |

It's no doubt the Terry show plus Lynval & Horace which is not a bad thing.
The sounds are fresh and done in a different way and there's no chance of ever replicating the drive and energy of 1979. Even 2009 couldn't live up to it.
Ticket prices were pretty steep for the recent tour (plus 2017 dates).
Lynval said nothing but the best musicians stepping in, whilst not copying or replicating sounds and styles of former band members. Gary and Steve must be on a fair cut.
A decent fred perry costs more than the ticket price and how much is spent on pissing money up the wall every weekend?
People want the sunshine without the rain. Then there's the Dolly rainbow quote but everyone would just think big t its
When the 30th Ann onion tour was announced it really divided people about the band's legacy, then there was the Jerry debacle.
Nev performing Specials songs (or just performing haha) when he returned from usa was frowned upon.
Roddy doing his thing with the Skabs frowned upon.
Aren't we an old bunch of whinging darlings?
We have the archives to dip into if and when we desire and the 30th went way beyond an incredible buzz of excitement.
Same thing happens in life...After the honeymoon period what's left is a life of grime, though for some of us it's forever rosy.
Cash cow or not, there's still a huge interest in The Specials from young and old, plus casual fans of music in general.
On that note...Viva The General...Viva The Specials
...and relax. Phew! _________________ !!! |
