Can anyone tell me, what sort of amounts of paper labels and silver injection moulded labels were made for the two tone singles ? Were there always more injection moulded labels(l know Swinging cats Mantovani is pretty rare on this format though). Where l live, back in the day l could only ever get hold of the silver injection centres, which lead me to believe they are much more common ? _________________ The past is our knowledge, the present our mistake and the future we always leave too late. |

I'm sure someone who once worked for Chrysalis Records may be able to confirm the exact number of copies per release which were printed on paper labels, but until then all we can do is guess. And I would guess in the region of 25,000 to 30,000 were pressed per release.
In answer to your question, after the paper label run ended all other copies were pressed with the plastic label. Although early 1980's re-issues of Gangsters were on the paper label.
The silver label Gangsters and Swinging Cats single are indeed the rarest _________________ Richard Eddington is innocent.

My Gangsters/Selecter TT1/TT2 is a silver label but did not think that was a rare one. Might list via ebay again as sold my 2 blue labels (TT3 & TT4) for £115 for the pair) as clearing out my vinyls _________________ I don't like life when things get dull |

£115 was a nice price for the blue labels.
There are no copies of the Gangsters silver plastic label on discogs at present (or ebay as far as I can see). So you may get a decent price (I have seen it sell for between £40 and £70 in the past), although you can never really tell how much someone would be willing to pay. |

I found a copy of the Selecter, on my radio with a blue plastic label when l was sorting my loft out the other day. I didnt know l had it with the blue centre, l dont recollect it. But l must have picked it up at the time. Was quite chuffed. I see its worth a few quid more than the standard issues. _________________ The past is our knowledge, the present our mistake and the future we always leave too late. |

I have Gangsters, On My Radio and Ghost Town on the Silver & Blue labels, I didn't buy any of them on-line
I would like a copy of The Prince but I wouldn't pay any more that £20 for a copy _________________ I'm having bags of fun |

I've seen a few Go-Feet blue plastic for sale which does suggest that the blue colouring is all about something going amiss at the pressing plant.
It's great for sellers, but why buyers wish to part with such sums of money for these releases is anyone's guess. I picked up The Prince and On My Radio blue labels for around 20 notes each. _________________ Richard Eddington is innocent.

That's the most I can recall that single selling for. And by a considerable amount. So well done you.
As for the buyer. What a fucking ejit. _________________ Richard Eddington is innocent.
