40th anniversary. I can see it now. Just Terry with a bunch of session musicians but still using the Specials name. It has been so sad to see the band I loved as a 13 year old turn into what it has become. It just isn't The Specials any more and hasn't been for some time. |

Well said. It hasn't been The Specials since 1981. _________________ Richard Eddington is innocent.

Lighten up lads FFS ??
Nobody's twisting anybody's arm to go to see the band.
If you don't like it then don't go.
If you do and you have the cash to spare then go.
Simple No ? |

Gangsters will be forty years old in two years time. That's something to make you feel very old about. _________________ Richard Eddington is innocent.

40 years old. Doesnt seem it. Nothing has really caught me since, like the 2 tone sound. Perhaps its my age, but there hasnt been anything worth shouting about in years. _________________ The past is our knowledge, the present our mistake and the future we always leave too late. |

Sleaford Mods do it for me now. I just can't get enough of them. Who would have thought that the true spirit of punk would be kept alive by two middle aged men and a laptop? _________________ Richard Eddington is innocent.

Im a big Weller fan, but his last three albums have been utter tosh. Think he has become very pretentious in his old age. Sounds like Noel Gallagher is getting above himself too, judging by his remarks about his new album not being for " the parka monkeys" or kids with paisley scarfs. And that he doesnt care if people like it or not, as he can record whatever he likes.
I just dont get these people, after all its was the kids who put them where they are in the first place. Im just very disillusioned with most of the music industry nowadays. _________________ The past is our knowledge, the present our mistake and the future we always leave too late. |

Apart from being a hypocritical tosspot, Paul Wellers best days are well and truly behind him. Like Morrissey, when he releases new material there is a collective sigh of relief if it isn't utter shite. No one is expecting Weller to release something like Setting Sons again, but it something listenable would be a pleasant change. _________________ Richard Eddington is innocent.

Agreed, something listenable would be nice for a change from Weller. I just bought The Smith Queen is dead boxset. The album of course is still fantastic, but listening to the demos, and live cd, i just get the feeling we have been here before. It doesnt merit a second listen to be honest. Just lining record companies pockets. I just go back to that classic line from John Lydon " Do you ever get the feeling you ve been cheated ?! " _________________ The past is our knowledge, the present our mistake and the future we always leave too late. |

I didn't bother with The Queen is Dead box set. The demos have been doing the rounds for a few years now, although I was surprised that the trumpet version of Frankly Mr Shankly wasn't included. As for the live album, the entire gig has been readily available on high quality bootleg for ages.
Funny you should mention Mr Lydon, The Sex Pistols Live '76 box set is overshadowed by the bootlegs of of the same gigs. When the official release is of lesser quality than the bootleg something has gone very wrong. _________________ Richard Eddington is innocent.

After the last couple of years i have had which have been tough, watching/reading the news every day and reading stuff on here and other sites Im starting to think i will from now on go through life presuming that everyone is a bastard.
If that turns out not to be true then it will be a real joyous discovery that will fill my heart with warmth.

l think ive just fallen out of love with music recently. Nothing new out there inspires me. I quite liked The Rifles, lve listened to The Spitfires two albums, but he sounds too much like an angry young Weller. No decent new ska bands. Buster Shuffle are alright, but just cant find anything worth shouting about anymore. _________________ The past is our knowledge, the present our mistake and the future we always leave too late. |

All of the latest studies (Spotify etc) show that the majority of us stop listening to new music at about age 33.
I would be in this category.
Have about 20-25 bands on rotation and rarely if ever stray outside of them.
Boring I know. |
