l think ive just fallen out of love with music recently. Nothing new out there inspires me. I quite liked The Rifles, lve listened to The Spitfires two albums, but he sounds too much like an angry young Weller. No decent new ska bands. Buster Shuffle are alright, but just cant find anything worth shouting about anymore.

Buster Shuffle have a new album out next week if your interested, I pre ordered CD from HMV yesterday and added a Island Ska compilation CD to qualify for free delivery (Buster Shuffle CD is £9.99 - 1p short of free delivery), worked out only pennies more than just ordering the Buster Shuffle CD from anywhere else (including from the bands store) when delivery is added.

All of the latest studies (Spotify etc) show that the majority of us stop listening to new music at about age 33.

I would be in this category.

Have about 20-25 bands on rotation and rarely if ever stray outside of them.

Boring I know.

But Fester, what about Harry Stiles and Ed Sheeran? they're new ish music surely !

I have to commend anyone who can listen to any of the modern ska bands. Any I have heard, and that's a lot, are simply playing ska by numbers. Childish repetitive nonsense basically. The only ska bands of the modern era I have ever rated and actually bought their albums are Hepcat and Intensified.

"Ska by numbers" - a kind way of saying SHITE. I agree- they have a sort of American high school/ college sound.
It almost like it lacks human input.
I for one will not apologise for not listening to new music - i rarely hear anything interesting, its all anonymous music - not attributable to any one artist could one of a number of unlistenable acts.

I think when the phrase 'what's left of the band' is used then time is well and truly up on the whole venture.

I'd pay good money to see Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles fight to the death.

Roman Gladiator style.

Winner gets to fight a starving tiger.

Very Happy

Re new bands worth listening to...

Well worth checking out
King Zepha's new album. I am biased as I put it out on my own label, but then if I didn't rate them I wouldn't put it out Smile

The Aggrolites have a new album out this week.

Jr Thomas from Californian releases rocksteady that could easily be on Treasure Isle back in the day.

The Magnetics from Italy have a cool new album. Some of it is very chirpy ska (to chirpy for me Smile ) but the boss reggae stuff I really like. Very soulful singer.

Caz Gardiner and the Badasonics had a fantastic soul meets ska & reggae album out in the later half of last year. Probably my favourite record of 2018.

The Kubricks are recording new material. Always rate their output.

Megative from NYC are a brilliant cross of what I thought a Specials 3rd album would be like / meets Massive Attack / meets Gorillaz. Dark and moody.

On the reggae front... Hollie Cook had her best album out todate (again end of last year).

Other new bands that impressed at this years ska festival included; Masons Arms from Germany, Le Birrette from Italy and The Indecision.

If anyone would like a free copy... yes free copy... no strings attached of my labels Rudies All Around comp on CD email your postal address to sean@pamainternational.co.uk and I'll send you one for nowt. It's got 18 bands on from around the world that are worth checking out. Something for everyone... ska, rocksteady, reggae, 2 Tone inspired, dub, etc.
