Razz
OK It's only a suggestion, i'm just back from the final Rancid gig of 2003 @ Glasgow Barrowlands..... verdict.... Not barely enough ska, The Amphetamienies (Scottish Ska Band) supported them, they went down well with a varied mixed bunch of giggers with various age ranges.
But The Public are crying out for a return to form masters of SKA/punk Band ie The Specials, anyone associated with ska, punk, mod,DECENT MUSIC... would more than welcome a Reunioun with Terry,Jerry,Neville & the rest inc Myself.
The Only way I can see this happening is if there is a Benefit concert for an agreed charity by ALL members of the Original Specials, this would be seen as not only an act of Kindness, but a justice to all Music fans willing to participate in this musical fiesta.
Does anyone agree this should take place?

Post subject: Terrys words, part of a recent interview Reply with quote

With the prospect of only special
one-off gigs possible due to the situation of many of the musicians involved
in the project, Hall is eager start work on new material as soon as
possible, but those praying for the much rumoured Specials reunion should
not hold their breath. "It's been on the cards for about 22 years now,"
Terry laughs. "It gets suggested once a year by somebody, and it reforms in
one shape or another all the time. I know Neville (Staple) and Lynval
(Golding) toured it for ages but it's not something I could do. I'm happy
with my legacy being left at Ghost Town really." * Terry Hall & Mushtaq -
'The Hour of Two Lights' (Honest Jons Records) is out now

All the orginal members have gotta get back to coventry for that to ever happen. Bit difficult when Lynval lives in the U.S and reading terry hall's comments in that post, he ain't ever gonna come back to coventry is he? no chance!

still though we can all dream.......

The Birmingham NEC, is a shocking venue for a band like the specials, if it ever happened if would have to be a small intimate venue. Imagine if you wanted to stomp and you got a seat that is 100 metres from the stage that would suck.

I have to agree with E.G., the NEC is not one of the better band venues...am I being too polite here? Wink

naaaaah I guess if you love your pop music, then you get used to watching bands from a fair distance away.

Having said that, it won't stop me going to the NEC to see Madness play Smile

Unless you've got 'standing' tickets don't bother going to see Madness. There's no way you can stand there between 2 rows of seats when ONE STEP BEYOND comes on.................

£25 quid is a bit steep for a gig so by the time I can afford it, it will have to be off a tout, they will be selling standing tickets for about 25 quid anyway so I can't really loose out!

£25 for a standing ticket off a tout - you'll be lucky, more like £125...You can't get them for love or money.

£125 for Madness at the NEC?

You gotta be joking ain't you? I rarely ever buy gig tickets in advanced so I pay a few quid extra of a tout for all the biggest pop gigs.

I paid £25 quid to see Coldplay and Oasis at the Birmingham NIA last year they are prolly the biggest pop acts in the uk atm.

There is always loads of spare tickets floating about at Arena gigs, I have no worries of paying no more than £25-30 quid for a standing ticket for Madness. after all many people see that a gig is sold out don't bother to travel to the venue to try and get a ticket.

Post subject: a specials reunion[why not eh] Reply with quote

why so negative about a reunion .how many ska fans out there would pay good money to watch legends [all of us ] if these guys reformed for acouple of shows they could sell out anywhere and make themselves a right few bob. as for other projects what is bigger than a specials reunion hall and dammers should remember its more than 20 years since they split one plays in shit bands the other is d/j at least the rest kept ska sound going in one way or another so for fucks sake get back together its the show every one wants [even if its just to play the oldies]

If The Police can re-unite for one night, The Specials can too.
I mean, c'mon! It's the 25th Anniversary of Two-Tone!

That would be a gig worth seeing. it would show all these new "ska" bands how to really do it.
