I arrived in London on the 28th had a quick look around Camden, bought a live DVD of The Specials At Lowlands 2010 then I went for a drink in the Dublin Castle played loads of sounds then I went on to the Elephants head for a bit of Ska and Rockabilly (Great Night) next day I caught a train to Coventry went straight from my hotel to The Specials at The Ricoh met up with a few people from the forum had a quick chat with Roddy then The Specials hit The Stage for a blinding 2 hour set, the band and sound were excellent my favorite gig so far International Jet Set was out of this world and Pearl's Cafe was great too. Lynval mentioned 2013 quite a bit during the set meaning it's not the end of The Specials.

for me personally Coventry was the best place to see and hear The Specials live, after the Gig I went down stairs to the Ricoh Casino had a few drinks with Cookie and his mate it was nice to sit down for a change I was standing all day. the bar in the Casino played the whole of The Specials singles CD including The Special AKA tracks, hearing War Crimes and Racist Friend in a bar at 2am in the morning was a rare treat indeed and I spoke to John Shipley only minutes before which was weird.
I bought the Live CD and a great Specials poster and a couple of nice badges from sellers outside the venue.

next day I went to Jerry's flat in Albany Road where I met up with a few fans from different places. then I went to The Canal Basin and on to Coventry Precinct loving every minute of it. next morning I went to Coventry Market for a look around and then on to Coventry University where Rat Race was filmed, had a quick look in the Museum at some of the 2 Tone Items on Display and very nice they were too, I also stopped off at the Library for a look around the building used to be Tiffany's and before that it was The Locarno.

I caught my Train back to London that afternoon I spoke to loads of people from all over including Drew who was very nice at The Canterbury Arms, Brixton and heard some great Ska thanks to LiamSka, Nanker and T.T.N. Then it was off to the Gig I saw The Specials before at Brixton and loved it but this time I didn't have a standing ticket so I had to sit upstairs which I hated I couldn't really see the band from the balcony which was very annoying so out of 10 Specials Gigs Brixton 2011 was the worst. The Live CD I bought after the Gig was Signed what a surprise I didn't ask for a signed copy when I paid for it.

after the Gig I went outside and stood with some guy waiting for a an autograph eventually Terry came out and was very quickly escorted by his driver to his waiting car and sped away I don't think Terry was up for any photos and stuff that night. some other people I bumped in to after the gig included Brad, Horace, Lynval, Neville, Nik, Felix Hall and Rhoda Dakar (Who Looked Absolutely Beautiful) then I went to the after party at The Jamm featuring Neville Staple and Trevor Evans who played some great music. I would have loved to stay on for The Ally Pally but in a way I'm glad I didn't because Coventry Can't be beaten. Coventry should have been the last night of the tour but sadly it wasn't to be. even The Coventry Telegraph had a picture of Terry Hall on the front page and a full page article inside on Monday morning just buying that Newspaper was a Special Moment Very Happy

Sorry I never saw you Sugarman, I thought of you a few times while I was in Coventry as just one of the many people I still haven't bumped in to!!!!

I totally totally agree with you. Coventry was my last gig of the tour and I'm really pleased about that. The whole experience would take some beating for me coz I was in Specials tourist mode!!! Loved my visit to 2-Tone village the next day and seeing the cut outs of the lads. But the gig was just blinding - had a fab time and still buzzing when I think about it Cool Very Happy Cool

Thanks Caragh

I arrived in Coventry very late so I missed the pre party and I was to tired for the after parties, in a way I'm glad because I had a good look around the city the next morning instead of nursing a hangover. it's a shame we didn't meet up somewhere for a chat I'm glad you also enjoyed Coventry it was our last Specials night out and it was the perfect place to spend it. I went on to Brixton but it was nowhere near as good as Cov. I might see you at a Skabilly Rebel gig sometime ? Roddy may have left the building but he hasn't left his band. Skabilly Smile

There's every chance you'll see me at a Skabillies gig, depending on where, as I plan to go to several Very Happy . I'm sure our paths will cross and hey, we shared the same arena, watching this band of ours, so we pretty much did meet Cool
