Happy days - another band I'm looking forward to seeing.

While on the subject of next year's Ska Festival, I really hope The Hotknives get more than a 40 minute slot. They were superb this year and raised the roof. Probably unlikely they'll get to headline one of the days (although they should imo) but surely a little longer for such a fantastic band wouldn't be too much to ask.

Go on Sean, you know it makes sense. Wink

I hear you Jim. The problem with fest is getting all the bands fitted in. But I'm sure we can squeeze a bit more time for them. They were brilliant.

Having said that if you want to see them paly for much longer then you can on 19 Nov at London Intl Ska Fest Winter Special pt.1 where they are headlining at Chelsea FC's new venue Under The Bridge

Really wish I could do that one too Sean, looks like it'll be a good night. If I lived in London I'd definitely go. Saving the pennies for the big one in May though instead.

We are delighted to announce FISHBONE have been added to the London Intl Ska Festival 2012.

"From the shifting faultlines of Hollywood fantasies and the economic and racial tensions of Reagan's America, Fishbone rose to become one of the most original bands of the last 25 years. With a blistering combination of funk-frenzied ska, punk, soul & more they demolished the walls of genre and challenged the racial stereotypes and political order of the music industry and the nation. Arguably one of the finest live bands ever their sound has often been imitated, but never duplicated"

Along with Fishbone the first acts confirmed for The London Intl Ska Festival 2012 (3-6 May) are:

Dandy Livingstone ('Rudy A Message To You', Suzanne Beware of The Devil')
The Pioneers ('Long Shot Kick De Bucket')
Dawn Penn ('No No No')
The Dualers
Neol Davies aka The Selecter
Fishbone
Hotknives (original line up)
Phoenix City all-stars
The Moon Invaders (Belgium)
Los Granadians (Spain)
Buster Shuffle
Rebelation
The Delegators
Capone & The Bullets (Scotland)

DJs:
Andy Smith
Count Skylarkin
Tim Wells
Mark Barrett (Pressure Drop)
3DJ (Funkdub)
Steve Rice (Downbeat Melody)
Dave Walker (Thursday Night Fish Fry)

Loads more bands and bands to be announced next week. Day tickets also go onsale next week as well.

Only 20 Earlybird/discounted 4 day tickets left. Grab yours now and save ££££ www.londoninternationalskafestival.co.uk/tickets

The winning band of The London Intl Ska Festival 2012 band competition is… from Barcelona…

THE KINKY COO COO’S

who now have won a place on the 2012 line up.

Congratulations to them and well done to all the other 19 finalists. Huge thanks to everyone for taking the time to vote and to all the 363 bands that entered the competition.

We are delighted to announce the latest reggae legend to be added to The London International Ska Festival 2012 is one of the greatest soul voices to come out of Jamaica... Dave 'Double Barrel' Barker.

Dave (the voice of Dave & Ansell Collins) reunited with Ansell to perfom at last years festival. We are honoured he has agreed to perform for the second year running, where he'll be launching new material with Phoenix City All-stars. More on this very soon.

I loved last year's festival but the line up for this year's is looking better already with more acts still to be announced.

I'm really excited about this festival. Will be interesting to see how it works out with the different venues on different nights.

Will be good to see Dave Barker again. I saw him a couple of times with The Selecter in the late 90s and with Ansel Collins at last year's festival.

Dandy Livingstone is the highlight for me of the acts anounced so far, quickly followed by The Pioneers.
