C'mon, give me your personal 5 highs and yer 5 lows from the tour.

Here's mine:

Highs:

1) Meeting loads and loads of forum members and ska faces ahead of, during and after the gigs
2) Ally Pally pre-show & Gig - a blinding climax
3) The Brixton Pre-show (I know I'm biased on this one, but it was so busy we were turning people away, Covered in Skas played a great set and we literally had to force people to leave and go to the gig at 8.45pm...oh, and Roddy made an appearene, and Drew, Nik and Felix!)
4) Roddy Byers on stage - a mighty presence!
5) Nev back to good health - after Brighton I was seriously worried he wasn't gonna make it to the end. By Brixton, Ka-Pow....back on form!

Lows

1) Brighton - it wasn't a good show, the crowd were not up for it, Nev was knackered, Roddy seethed.
2) Terry's 'Chav' comments at Brixton - no need for it! Social hatred, like racial hatred is hatred, I never thought Mr Hall would be stood on that side of the class war.
3) Roddy rumours - cast a darkly soap operatic shadow over things
4) Fighting at gigs - c'mon boys and girls, behave! There's dancing to be done. Have a punch up in yer own time.
5) Specials socks and plastic cups - tacky merch? nuff said Rolling Eyes

One high - Getting a ticket for Brighton

One low - Having to give up that ticket for work reasons that disappeared two days after the ticket had gone.

one high - seeing 3 shows in Wolvo, Hull and Notts with possibly the best 2 of the tour being Wolvo and Hull by all accounts.

One low - not enough new numbers, same old set, no Skinhead Symphony, Rude Boys outta Jails etc. If there is another tour then the whole lot will have to change.

2. The Britannia Hotel (Reminds me of The Shining)

4. The Specials At The Ricoh
5. Canal Basin
6. Meeting Winston (Rude Buoy) at the Brixton pre party who was at the gig on behalf of his Brother who sadly passed away some time ago.
7. Speaking to some of The Coventry Local People.
8. Driving through Coventry after the gig in a Taxi (Ghost Town)
9. Buying a Specials poster after gig in Cov not seen one anywhere since.
10. Lynval, Terry and Roddy's stage banter at the Ricoh.

Low

2. Shit Hotel & Staff
3. Taxi Drivers (Who Don't know where they are going)
4. Missing the pre and after party (Coventry)
5. Leaving Coventry
6. Knowing The Spatial AKA were playing London a few weeks later (I got the flyer in Notting Hill gate)

Highs:
1. International Jet Set & International Jet Set!
2. After show Cd, played it all the way home from Bournmouth to Bristol.
3. Last Christmas at Bournmouth.
4. The 3 girl strings added to some of the songs, as you can guess I have not a glue about music.
5. Terry Hall looked more into this tour than the last one. Horace, Lynval and Roddy making up for Nev's knees.

Lows:
1. Nev not dancing like he did in 2009, very very sad. At one stage I thought perhaps it was best they did call it a day. It made me think of Glastonbury 2009 when the Specials and in particular Nev stole the show. It made Madness look old & fat. At the end the energy of the others made up for his knees.

2. Reading Horace talk about Roddys mood swings.

3. No jugs of Budwieser at Hooters in Cardiff after the gig!

4. Not getting a signed CD, even giving my 18 year old son my Brixton tickets and £20 with clear and specific instructions to get one. Come to think of it he never give me the £20 back.

5. Not knowing if I will ever get another opportunity to see the band I love live ever again?

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who enjoyed International Jet Set Smile I agree their wasn't as much excitement on stage as their was in 2009, but when you have health problems it can't be helped regarding Neville. I'll never forget The Skinhead Symphony at Brixton and Dublin 2009 Smile

Great thread, Cool
I saw them the 14th and the 15th of September in Amsterdam, these are my highs and lows.

High: Very Happy
Seeing them for the first time ever and then really enjoying them for the second time (because of different expectations).
Getting the live-CD right after the show.
Meeting 4 out of the 6 Special members at the after party.
Surprisingly hearing Guns of Navarone in stead of Ghost Town at the second show (because Terry didn't return)
Meeting, if short indeed Sugaman and Willo

Low: Sad
Seeing the same show as was on the 2010 DVD of the 2009 tour, but with lesser songs.
A Terry-less You’re wondering now, which ended a great concert a bit on a low.
The messy version of Ghost Town at the first show in Amsterdam.
Not hearing international Jet Set and Pearls Café.
Not having the chance to see them backstage.

Time flies, just 13 months and it's 2013 already, see you then. Smile Smile

Highs
The Ally Pally gig
Being right at the front
The Ally Pally gig cd
Catching a bottle of water from Neville

Lows
Someone continually tugging at my trousers at the gig (if you can't dance, don't try to)
Getting (allegedly) piss thrown over us (not funny, even at a Specials gig)
Missing out on buying a moody Specials scarf before the gig

Despite a few (minor) lows, I couldn't have enjoyed myself more

Some interesting choices, here are my musings....
HIGHS......The Intro on the first night in Wolverhampton, the rest of the gig wasnt one of the best( as Horace states elsewhere),but at that moment, for me and most of the people round me,11 months of waiting came to an end and I f***ing EXPLODED!

All the pre-gigs,all great in their own ways, all different but all with that great feeling of unity.

Nottingham Arena 21/10,that place was rocking from front to back, best crowd of the four gigs I went to.

LOWS....? Few and far between,We were too far back at the Ricoh and the sound and atmosphere was pretty poor, beer was rank and expensive.

Idiots who didnt seem to be there for the music but just to push people about and chuck beer, seemed to be more of them this tour ( bigger venues I presume).

Felling like shit the day after a gig and realising I felt older than I did 2 years ago..... Crying or Very sad
