10 Jools Holland interview with Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger


My DVD player has a special setting on it that allows me to edit Jools Holland's annoying voice off. What i'm trying to say is I am extremely happy with these releases.

As regards EMI, I don't know what the problem is with some people on here. surely More Or Less The Best Of The Specials is all anyone could ever have dreamed of? And only a week to wait...

Haven't there already been at least two deluxe edition General Public releases? I'm not complaining if there's more stuff in the vaults, but I'm pretty sure plenty has already seen the light of day.

As an aside, after the first two albums, was it just me who thought the comeback album Rub It Better was effectively worse than nothing? Am I missing something?

The 2nd General Public album Hand To Mouth was reissued with bonus tracks a very long time ago but the first album All The Rage wasn't. as for the 3rd album Rub It Better It's not great but their are some good tracks Like Rainy Days and a few others on it Smile

Sugarman I just had a look on Amazon and there was also an original masters CD, which I think is one of those gold CD high quality ones.

I have the Hand To Mouth with bonus tracks. I'd be amazed (but pleased) if General Public get reissued in the UK as almost all their success was in The States thanks to Ferris Bueller. I'd be very surprised if more than a couple of thousand people would be bothered about them this side of the pond.

yesterday i listen to whappen and special beat service back to back,,, class albums,, be nice to get a decent recording of S.B.S, instead of my dodgy vinyl to laptop recording.. daves vocals on that album are 1st class, especially on i confess..

liked the 1st general public album, never heard the 2nd and the 3rd wasnt very good, a few good songs but crappy production..

and dave walklings solo album also suffers from crappy production, shame, some good songs on that aswell..

Looking forward to the General Public reissues too especially "All The Rage" It's criminal that they were so overlooked in the UK,such an underrated band.

I don't suppose anyone in the States fancies buying this box, opening it, playing it and then posting it to me in the UK with a customs docket clearly showing it as used and a gift?
