Strictly a sideshow gig to regurgitate old favourites for the tourists

That would mean Specials at 7 Blur at 10...with one other band inbetween. With say 20 minute changeover between bands ..that would give an hour and ten minute set each.......I would hate to think Blur would get a two hour set as this gig isnt a Blur gig

It is a Blur gig really.

All the press and the interviews etc have been geared that way.

I reckon The Specials will get 1hr 20-30mins and Blur will get 1hr 45 - 2hrs.

They'll be 1/2 hr between them methinks.

Big set up like that they can do a swap out in 20mins easy.
.
Show starts at 4.30 so lets hope for an hour and a half

I'd like to see The Specials do a final gig.

Or, get it together to produce something new and tour that.

Please don't just keep toruing the same stuff in the same way time and time again.

It'll murder the legacy of the band......

No amount of cash is worth that!

The Specials will be lucky to get an hour slot at this gig. Like it or not they're a support band for Blur after all.

I agree, they're a support, but I think they'll get the 1hr 20 at least.

Wouldn't be surprised if a blur/specials stage interaction takes place also.....

Love or hate Blur, Damon Albarn has an immense love and respect for the Specials and I can't see them being short changed at this gig - in terms of a support slot anyhow i'm sure they'll get a fair crack of the whip.

If i were in a great band like the specials would rather die than have written about me, that i supported the horriblefuckingshitehoundofacelebritycheesemakingtwathangingroundwithfuckinghorrible90smodelsandtoriesinabighouseinthecountry and his arrogantoverearnestoverdrivencollaboratewithanyonetomakehimselflookbetterbuthasnopassionorsoul mate. the other two, like liam gallagher, i dont mind. what it does is say officially imitations like blur who made decent but unoriginal records (and followed but didnt start 3 at least, different trends to keep them in the charts) are better in history than new order or the specials. thats what i think anyway.

I like Blur. I agree with some of Dan's post though. They were'nt original - their best lp sounds like Pavement but better - and Damon Albarn is unbeleivably annoying. Always preferred Oasis meself!

I am with the rest of you that want some new stuff in the set. Its one of the reasons I am not goin to Hyde Park. As much as I love the lads, I have been there done that and want something new. Also the cost ( over £45 ) it begining to turn in to a money go round and leave me feelin a bit used. Confused Confused How about you lot??

Have to agree, if this was the 2009 Blur Hyde Park show with Specials supporting i'd have probably bitten yer hand off for another chance to see the guys. Having seen em several times like many on here over the last 3 years - to me Ally Pally really seemed to mark the end of an amazing serious of tours since 2009. I just don't want them to end up going through the motions, and I didn't think i'd ever say that.

The promise of something new / different mixed in with the old would be a mouth watering prospect. This topic has been done to death though. I hope they do whats right for them.

I like Blur, and have probably seen them live through every incarnation/phase aside from Seymour.

I think Albarn and Cheeseknob are dickheads, but most musicians are. If I stopped liking bands because the people in them were pricks I'd have a very small record collection. Coxon's fine for a grouchy arse and the other one's a politician......so go figure.....

As I live band they have been up there with some of the best gigs I've ever seen.....actually they did a show at the astoria once which was fucking amazing and without doubt one of the best gigs I've ever been to for sheer excitiment, playing, audience, great venue, sound, set list, etc etc.

They will be seen as the more popular and successful band because they are.

The Beatles and Stones went to US and often had people on the bill who would have been massive influences on them...The Stones especially made a point of it.

I wasn't going but a ticket came my way and I am. If anything, I', less bothered about the specials set because I know what's gonna be in it and I've seen them a dozen times in the last 3 years. If they pull something fresh outta the hat....so be it. I'm not holding my breathe.

Blur will play a great set, full of whoop whoop and emotion which'll rouse the crowd from an afternoon's stupor, I don't doubt that. New Order will do as they do and either be good or average because live they only ever do good or average.......although I did see them once play a great gig at Brixton Academy over 10 years ago now......

I'll take the day in my stride....

these big gigs are never mind blowing anyway

'whoop whoop' is never good.

Apart from when they play 'Tender' and 'Country House' both of which I despise, I'm sure Blur will be great. I like most of their other stuff especially the 'Modern Life Is Rubbish', 'Blur' and 'Think Tank' long players.
