| I like most of the albums but i'd say the one i play most is the debut "one step beyond". |

I love Absolutely, I love Keep Moving, I love Norton Folgate....
I love the others too....except maybe Rise and Fall, because it just didn't work......
Madness 7 used to get repeat plays, but the sounds feels a bit dated now.....it feels like an 80s record....
I voted Norton Folgate.....mainly because I think it they did an amazing job in realising something grown up and original and relevant and modern while retaining everything that is fundamental to Madness. |

Always a difficult decision, like most of my favourite artists I tend to sway towards one or another Album dependent on my constant state of mind but when I think of Madness I probably prefer Absolutely just over Norton Folgate or Keep Moving
but like the song says....Tomorrows just another day! _________________ "would everybody stop getting fucking shot"!! |

The Liberty Of Norton Folgate, by a mile, I reckon. Sounds like a Kinks album, but deeper.

A few years back I would have said One Step Beyond but for me Absolutely is the moment Madness perfected their sound. The rawness of OSB is fantastic but for me their second effort just shades it.
I also like Mad Not Mad and remember how it was in back 1985/6 when Madness were kind of at end of the road and that album, whilst great - reflected the mood at the time that the game was kinda up. At that point they had to go away for a while, shame a few of em bothered with 'The Madness' in between but that is quickly forgotten. _________________ Musical sensation designed to blow your mind! |
