I like this early quirky sounding version of Too Much Too Young. I could EASILY imagine Wilfred Brambell singing it to Harold Steptoe (just reminds me of him for some reason! )

I rarely play that cd but when I do that's one of my favorite songs, I also like the Dub version of (Dawning Of A) New Era and the keyboards on Little Bitch are something else _________________ I'm having bags of fun

I only just got that cd a few months ago. Got it on import from japan for £8 delivered. It was a lot more expensive everywhere else to get hold of. Love the original takes on the cd. _________________ The past is our knowledge, the present our mistake and the future we always leave too late.

New Era is even more quirky... you can hear how they developed those songs. It's Up To You is my favourite from those sessions.

Always thought Terry was the least important, and I had a jazz guitarist transcribe the opening chords and solo

FAB ALBUM! its a great insight into the band. Love hearing stuff like this!
I agree that it a great insight to the origins of the band, but the sound was all over the place and far from the finished product. The whole punk one minute reggae the next sounds as rough as a badger's arse. Opting for the ska tempo was a stroke of genius. It's difficult to believe that in a matter of a few short years this same band would record 'More Specials'. Just goes to show what talent was involved. _________________ Richard Eddington is innocent.

It is all over the place and that's what I like- the really rough edge. shoddy, disjointed- that's the appeal for me. Like you say from that recording to the 2 albums was/is a MASSIVE jump and as you rightly say juts shows the talent in the unit and that ladies n gentleman ..is why we are here _________________ ANGER IS AN ENERGY www.specializedproject.co.uk www.thespecials.com www.theskapones.co.uk

Pity it wasn't released on Cassette like other releases on the Receiver label I have The 1st John Peel Session on Tape so The Coventry Automatics would have been a nice item to add to my collection _________________ I'm having bags of fun
