If i'd of known when this photo was taken that Roddy was going to leave The Specials I would of strangled him harder until he agreed to stay Sad He's my favourite, great showman, great energy, great musician.
Why did he leave?

If the other four left then maybe the whole torrid affair could be finally laid to rest?

Well its a real shame if that's the case. Everyone contributes to the end product, no one person is better than others, they all need each other to replicate the uniqueness of their sound and image.

Don't imagine there are many that could replace Roddy's sound (or his moves for that matter).

NOOOOOOOOOO, I'd prefer it if the others came back (if only just for one tour - that absolutely had to include Australia of course Smile)

Maybe he was put off by the obsessiveness?

It would be great if Roddy bought his band the Skabilly Rebels over to Oz, Ive heard they are good, not seen them though. But I guess Australia is a long way and a costly process, so it may put a lot of bands off. I reckon the Aussies would love his stuff though.

Not sure if that was a dig at Australians or not? quite confused by your comment really? But no they tend to refer to friends as mate, rather than sport nowadays.

My Dagenham friend told me a Kiwi said 'hello sport' to him and he didn't like it which made us laugh.

Oh I see, how strange that your friend would be offended by that. I would be honoured, and to a fault somewhat thankful, if a Maori called me sport, as a way of accepting me. They are very strong, very spiritual and very powerful beautiful people.

Is that right? I've lived a sheltered life, I never knew that. But anyhow we've digressed, my point was that it would be wonderful if Roddy would bring himself and his rebels over to Oz one day, whilst he can still do his crazy moves!

Maori weren't him, he was a white guy from New Zealand and too cheerful for our sake.

In Roddy's day, taillights looked like tits.
