Great 90 minute set by Nev last night, small but hard core crowd lapped it up. His band are very tight and always look as if they are enjoying themselves which makes for a great atmosphere.
Nev looks and sounds in great spirits ... great to see him healthy and well and some of the banter and interaction with the audience was really funny.
Come back soon Neville. |

90 minutes, you're lucky mate - apparently in Belfast he played 50 from what I heard, I'm glad I didn't rearrange my plans to go to see him.
He also was on Carolyn Stewart's U105 radio show being interviewed and by all accounts (I didn't catch it, but was told by 2 independent people) he was a bit of a twat...Apparently HE is The Specials hmmmm.

Nev seems to have a bee in his bonnet about his old band alright.
At the Dublin gig he made a point on a couple of occasions of saying that "this is the way we play the tunes, not the Specials way". Also gave a guy in the audience a bit of stick about a Specials T-Shirt saying it was out of date cos it had former members on it ...
Bit of bad feeling there for sure - but who knows what goes on behind closed doors - I prefer to enjoy the music and forget about the in-fighting.
For what its worth I would go see Neville every time as he always gives value for money, his band are superb players and his enthusiasm is infectious. Not sure what happened in Belfast but sure you Nordy Lads are always looking for something to give out about ... (JOKING) |
