Post subject: People's History of Pop - seeking 2 tone stories |

'The BBC is crowdsourcing photos and audio/video of your cherished music memorabilia - ticket stubs, diary entries, teen band recordings, wrist bands, rare footage and more - to tell the stories of British rock and pop music from the 1950s to the noughties. Whether you were into skiffle, punk, hip hop or anything in between, we want to see your stuff and hear your stories!'

It's all aged well. I have music papers from that era that are 'rusting'.
I've a few other bits and pieces that I might upload. |

Thanks Paul.
Yes, I remember when Dance Craze was featured on Whistle Test, and on the same episode, a clip from the film Babylon was also shown.
One morning before school, Mike Read (the dj, not the presenter of Runaround ) played Ranking Full Stop from the album. ....i.e., before I went to school, not him. He'd left a good few years previously, I think. |

I'm guessing 2 Tone fans will have to wait for Ep 2/4 (July 2016)
The People’s History Of Pop will be broadcast on Friday nights in April, July, September and November 2016, with each episode covering a decade, starting with the 60th anniversary year, 1956 - a year of skiffle and rock 'n' roll when the countries love affair with British pop music began.
Each episode will feature an evocative collage of memories in the form of unseen video, images and audio. The series will journey through Ready, Steady, Go, The Beatles final gig in 1966, Northern Soul in Wigan, Black Sabbath, Sex Pistols’ first gig at Central St Martins’ in 1975, 100 Club’s Punk Festival in 1976, New Romantics at Birmingham’s Rum Runner nightclub, Factory Records, through to 1996 and Blur vs Oasis and the global Spice Girls explosion. _________________ I'm having bags of fun |

The production team mentioned the episode that features 2 Tone will be in the Autumn, with the date to be confirmed (possibly earlier). A bit of a wait I know, but it's a year-long series.
Here's episode 1 - my dad appears about 48 minutes in talking about blues dances in the 60s.
