Just had a look online to see how the ticket sales for this years tour was going and it looks to have almost sold out except for a handful of tickets here and there. The demand to see them is still strong. Roll on November 8th. Cool

Does anyone know if Steve Cradock is going to be playing the 2016 UK dates with the band?

It's a shame Roddy left, but life goes on and Mr Cradock is a more than capable guitarist. It is was it is...

I've not been on here for a while and I'm surprised people are still sulking about Roddy leaving, that was 3 years ago wasn't it? And everybody was surprised he lasted that long including himself probably. Well Jerry was missing from the start of the reunion (and Rico and Dick) if you want to take it back that far and the Stones have never been the same since Brian Jones left. As long as the band wants to play and people enjoy watching them what's the problem? If you don't like it you don't have to use it...

The problem is with a dwindling line up and not a single new chord struck since 2008 they have become their own tribute act.

Not quite a tribute band, but a nostalgia act certainly.,.to be fair they had started on new material by all accounts, but with Brad's passing I guess this may never be completed now...and really that was always the problem with leaving the band's principal songwriter out of the reunion...

For me personally a new album without Jerry, Neville, Roddy, Brad (RIP) Rico (RIP) and Dick Cuthell being involved wouldn't sound like The Specials?

Terry Hall should record a new solo album featuring Lynval and Horace as guests and play some of the tracks at live gigs?

I like a bit of nostalgia but not all the time Smile

To be brutally honest I have no real interest in new material from this line up. I saw The Specials back in the day and when they reformed in 2009 saw them 3 times because I knew it wouldn't last. I didn't think I'd see them again after Neville and Roddy left but I stumbled on this video from late 2014 and was reasonably impressed with the performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUGxo8BqDIg

So I have tickets for one of the gigs on the 2016 tour. It will almost certainly be the last time; nonetheless I'm looking forward to it...

The words 'reasonably impressed' should never be used to describe The Specials, but that's just the problem. What is being done now in the name of the band is just about passable. For me though, it's just downright unforgivable.

"Reasonably impressed" is on a par with what I saw in 2009. It depends on your perspective of course, but it is 2016 not 1980. More than passable in some people's opinion: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/live-music-reviews/11246180/The-Specials-Roundhouse-review-a-public-service.html
