It's a great list.

Is The Selecter performance from the 8/11/79 show not out there? I'm not 100% sure but for the show in question it may have been a recording from a previous broadcast.

When you look at the dates and then realise just how many years ago it all was it doesn't half make you feel old. Sad

...I know what you mean, especially when you can remember seeing some of those performances when they were first broadcast. Watching those TOTP repeats on BBC4 really takes me back in time, I sit here and wallow in sentimentality for 40 minutes every week watching it Smile That particular Selecter performance was shown on two episodes but as luck would have it, Saville presented one and Travis the other so they weren't shown on BBC4.

I suppose this lot should get a mention.

Not in HD, but still a TOTP performance.

Thursday nights 7:30, I can still picture the living room in the house I grew up in.
When my Dad was forced into watching with me and my sister the usual comment would be along the lines 'what a load of rubbish, you can't understand anything they are singing' and I remember him predicting Buster Bloodvessel would be dead before he's 40 (Think that was during the Can Can)

For me it was wishing Tomorrow's World would hurry the hell up and finish so that Top of The Pops would come on. And my Sister and I giving it a 'Good' or 'Shite' to each record as the Top 40 was read out or the 'run down' as the DJs called it.

Simpler times........

Trojan

I was going to add a few Mod related performances but the thought of searching every Jam Performance put me off, though The Lambrettas - poison Ivy is worth a mention. I will add it later Smile

Thanks for compiling this Paul - it's a great resource to have them all together like that.

I loved that Lambrettas album Beat Boys in the Jet Age and it still got my toe tapping last time I had a listen Smile

Thanks Fester

I agree about The Lambrettas, both albums and a few b-Sides are available on the 2 CD below. I bought my copy in the old HMV on Grafton street years ago great collection Smile

The only other Mod related albums I can listen to in full are by The Jam, The Style Council and Some Paul Weller Smile

The Lambrettas seem to take an awful lot of flak from the Mod faithful, but as others have said Beat Boys in the Jet Age is a superb album. Poison Ivy is probably the weakest track on it and is only notable because of the obvious 2 Tone cash-in.

Nice one Sugarman!
Really great to see these, some of which I'd only ever seen photos of. Couple of things, I was surprised to see that UB40's 'Don't Let it Pass You By' was pushed more than 'Don't Slow Down', I'd always thought it was the other way round, though gotta say I love both tunes. Also, I think your dates on the two Ghost Town clips are in the wrong order, I'm pretty sure the movie camera/filter thingy one was first.

As always, ˇˇmuchas gracias!!

Wally.

If memory serves, yes.
I agree with Wally that 'Don't Slow Down' was a far better track
Maybe the band management thought 'DLIPYB' would appeal more to the wider public and so get more radio airplay. So hardly got to hear 'DSD' during it's chart run. A shame Sad

It was indeed. Both were superb tracks , but I agree that Don't Slow Down is the better of the two tracks.

Listen to it and recoil in horror at just how good this band once were and how quickly they went downhill.

It was the first UB40 single l bought. Both great tracks, but agree with everyone else, Dont Slow Down was the better song.
