Post subject: Ghost Town Missing Lyrics? |
 |
|
Fellow poster Imani's wonderful collection of 2 Tone memorabilia contains the following version of the lyrics for Ghost Town taken from the 2 Tone Newsletter prior to the singles release.
http://www.historypin.org/en/two-tone-fan-club-memorabilia-1980-1981/geo/51.15084,-6.913523,4/bounds/21.533444,-33.632273,69.286723,19.805227/pin/1013480
In an interview producer John Collins gave to 2-tone.info (never heard of it) he stated the following:
'Other things I decided to leave out (of Ghost Town) altogether including a "toasting" (reggae rapping) Terry Hall section - I thought the middle section ("Do you remember the good old days...") featuring Terry worked brilliantly and for me it was a case of "less is more"'.
Is the above the section which was removed? And if it was, does it still exist somewhere? _________________ Richard Eddington is innocent.

I'm sure it does exist....along with more in Jerry's or other band members' archives. Nice stuff from Imani, must keep tabs on his site, hopefully he'll post more |

Great stuff.
The Specials Anthology with alternative mixes of the various songs would be a lovely item to see available at some stage. Demos / Out Takes / Discarded versions / vocal guide tracks / the lot |

At this stage I would take the release of any dog rough demos over yet another pointless carbon copy release of the first two albums. _________________ Richard Eddington is innocent.
