Post subject: The crimes of Winston Churchill Reply with quote

Last Xmas my mother and I went to see the Churchill film staring Gary Oldman. I thought the film was good in parts and actually quite moving.
The film is about the best things Churchill did - this article (below) talks about the worse things he did...

I thought this recent spat was fascinating.
Piers Morgan Vs Ross Greer...

Churchill also opposed votes for women and the formation of the NHS.

On Wednesday - at a loose end - I walked into this event - which turned out to be a sort of book tour - and one of the ways that Americans are struggling with history or revisionist history - which Harry has brought up in this post.

For them it is race and colour - the songs Tim McGraw chose were so far away from anything I would have imagined "Over There" George M. Cohan - interpreted as a soft and beautiful lullaby - Mickey Newbery from "Frisco Mabel Joy" which I would NEVER have thought I would hear live - and for these two Southern men an uncomfortable and unresolved love of "Dixie" as it's about Southern slaves and cotton and yet, a song they love and grew up loving.

They waved and acknowledged Carole King in the audience and I nearly fell out of the box rubbernecking : (

One callous friend described being posted overseas as the them and us deployment as a way to distinguish - "Good and easy identifiable working class" and the Churchill debate is the same but different.
