I agree with you - but the public mostly will always pick up on the most easy to grasp or cliched parts of anything. If they're not really avid fans then they aren't going to know the difference.
Saying that, ska always had its comedy side, both the original Jamaican stuff and the British version. The humour and fun helped get the serious messages over - I think that gets overshadowed because people now focus on Ghost Town above everything else. |
