Does Society owe you a living?
Should you feel lucky to have a job?

'Society', e.g governments can only do but so much. I think the current corona situation shows that they're no less vulnerable than those whom they govern.

On the whole, I rarely give a thought to the royals, in honesty. Not out of dislike or ignorance of how they got their position, but I'm also fairly sure they've no plans to give up their wealth.

In principle governments are there to provide its citizens with particular needs and resources. In practice this doesn't always happen. The following is a quote from Na'im Akbar, an African American psychologist, author and professor. It sums up my outlook:

'Perhaps the emphasis on trying to simply alter the conditions of "poverty" is a wrong emphasis. Perhaps we should concentrate on altering the perceptions and experiences of people about who they really are. If we alter their perceptions, they can begin to alter their conditions.'

I'm not saying that people in power aren't corrupt and shouldn't be accountable but in my experience and from observation, focusing on that too much can be a futile waste of time, and uses up the energy that people could put towards their own betterment. But everyone's path and focus is different.
